PURPOSE AND PRODUCTIVITY
Everyone wants to be more productive....and then we get stuck.
How can I find more time? How can I find more energy? How can I like this more?
Where is my mental, spiritual, and emotional buy in?
ANSWER: It resides in your purpose.
CHALLENGE: Clarity of Purpose
People often show up initially to a challenge with good intentions of follow through. Soon the enthusiasm wanes toward indifference followed by drudgery.
EXAMPLE: Anyone who has ever had physical therapy knows the process. Show up initially to get help with an injury. Hoping for a few sessions to get yourself back “in the game” only to find out that there is a lot of minute movements and slow repetition and will take more time. Most people get partway through, promise the PT they will continue at home and then forget about the sheet of exercises only to complain later that they still have pain and maybe the PT wasn’t that helpful.
Why do people quit i.e. fail to produce?
They don’t have a CLEAR sense of purpose.
How I define healing and what that looks like to me is critical. What do I need TO DO to get to a higher quality of life? How will these specific exercises help me achieve that? What would happen if I chose NOT to do the exercises?
If my purpose is clear I can keep up the enthusiasm (energy) and not be distracted. I buy in to the process.
GETTING CLEAR
What is it you want to produce?
How will that enhance your life and the lives of others? Write this down and keep it in front of you.
What is a small step you can take to head in that direction? Ignore the thoughts of why you can’t or shouldn’t and instead align with your purpose and you will ALWAYS be clear.
