THE ILLUSION OF TRY
The word TRY is said with seemingly good intent and yet void of real commitment: it contains no value.
Where Try works: (before a noun)
I'll try the salmon
I will try this on and see if it fits
Try = Test out
Where Try fails: (before a verb/ action)
I’ll try and be there
I’ll try to get it done by ....
I’ll try it to but not promising anything..
I’ll try not to get angry
I’ll try and do better next time
I’ll try to behave
Using the words I’ll try is something we use to avoid responsibility....
“Let me please you in the moment, let me tell you what I think you want to hear”.
What people really want is a committed yes or no or a specific date/time when you will commit one way or the other.
I will or I will not. A commitment is clarity and clarity offers tremendous value.
What have you not committed to?
What is one small commitment you can make right now?
