FAILURE: Let’s Break This Down Like A Superhero

When something you try doesn’t end with the result you had hoped for we often attach the word failure. Or for the younger: “epic fail”

Here is some news:

YOU ARE NOT A FAILURE!

YOU ARE A SUPER HERO!

You are someone who tried something, who took a risk on something you were unsure about. You are courageous. You stepped outside the comfort zone and you survived. You now have feedback for another attempt if you so choose. You have succeeded in implementing a strategy by taking action. That action had a certain result. That result offers you (and others) feedback to make adjustments for the next action. And repeat! Save yourself some grief by releasing any judgement that YOU attach, take the result as feedback (not criticism), adjust your cape and fly into the next challenge.

Stop giving labels power if they do not serve you. Lose the nouns (labels) and turn them into verbs (actions). They make action figures after Super Heroes, not noun figures. Yes super heroes sometimes fail to achieve what they want early on but, they never consider themselves a failure. They persevere and that’s how they get to be known as a hero.

Bridges and dams fail, people don’t unless they fail to act. "You Failed to pass" (story) = I didn't pass. (Fact)

There is no right or wrong in not receiving the results you hope for. There is only the result unless YOU decide to make it mean something different or greater or less.

Fail belongs in the dumpster of shame words that don’t serve along with should.

These attempts that didn’t result the way you would have liked are simply individual attempts and experiences that will never define WHO you are. You Are how you show up. How does a courageous, curious, and relentlessly inspiring super hero sound to you?

Where in your life do you show up this way?
