On the Wheel and Going Nowhere?
Ever feel like the hamster busy running the wheel and occasionally stopping for water only to find out that you’re still where you started?
Always feeling rushed?
Always feeling busy?
Keeping your eyes looking forward with your thoughts imagining a future that may very well disintegrate if the wheel slows down?
Let’s make a distinction between busy and productive.
Busy is wasting time by not focusing on what you want to get done and choosing to follow distractions and create lists of should’s so that you feel like you are accomplishing something.
Productive is setting an intent and committing to seeing it through by a certain time.
Where in your life does busy replace productive?
Workplace rewards productivity and productive people are happy people. Does “busy doing stuff” sound productive?
Personal relationships flourish through commitment. Commitment only follows intent and committing to a timeline seals the deal.
5 minute experiment: Set your intent in the morning: make a list of those who you intend to spend your energy on today. List one project (no matter the size) that you would be excited if finished by the end of the day. You have declared your intent and there is your focus. Everything else is a distraction until your commitments are over.
